RMH Curriculum Highlights
X+Y Training Model
We use a 4+2 training model. Residents rotate inpatient (primary services, consult services, ICU, ER, etc.) for 4 weeks and then have a 2 week dedicated ambulatory block with dedicated outpatient didactics and team-based ambulatory care. We have dedicated night float rotations for ward and ICU coverage.
Wellness
Supported by program leadership and OhioHealth, we prioritize wellbeing both inside and outside the hospital. Dedicated night float, no 24-hour calls, half-days for wellness, comprehensive employee assistance program, food budget, and much more!
Clinical Tracks
Beginning PGY2 year, our residents select between our Hospitalist, Primary Care, Fellowship or Scholarship tracks to tailor training in accordance with their future career paths. The individualization includes both mentorship and training opportunities.
Board Preparation
Over the past 10 year, we consistently have an ABIM board pass rate > 98%, including 8 of those with 100% board pass rate. Our dedicated faculty and board review curriculum are committed to test preparation success.
POCUS & Simulation
Our simulation curriculum is fully embedded into our didactics on a bi-weekly basis. Simulation includes Code Blue Simulation, Patient Triage, Patient Communication, Procedural Experience and Point-of-Care Ultrasound. Additionally we longitudinally integrate our POCUS curriculum with an optional comprehensive POCUS elective

Didactics
We are proud to offer a diversity of learning experiences including board review, subspecialty didactics, case conferences, morning report, simulation, morbidity & mortality conferences, quality improvement didactics and more. Academy of Clinical Educators (ACE)
We are proud to offer a unique opportunity for our PGY2/PGY3 residents to learn and practice their skills as educators via a longitudinal curriculum, interactive sessions and live teaching practice & feedback.
Procedural Experience
Riverside Methodist is a high-volume, tertiary/quarternary care center with ample exposure and opportunities for procedures such as intubation, arterial lines, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture and central/peripheral venous access.
Fellowship/Career Placement
Year after year our fellowship match rates are outstanding, placing residents into highly competitive fields and programs. Additionally, a large portion of our non-fellowship residents stay with OhioHealth for hospital medicine or Primary Care.
