I was born in a relatively small town of Green, Ohio. Located between Akron and Canton, I grew up in Northeastern Ohio and was accepted into a six-year combined BS/MD program through Kent State University followed by NEOUCOM (now known as NEOMED). Following graduation from medical school in 2000, I wanted to see another part of the country and did my internal medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and ultimately stayed at MUSC for my pulmonary and critical care fellowship. Outside of my clinical experience, my research interest focused on adult education through experiential learning. This was one of the aspects that drew me to Riverside when I completed my fellowship in 2006, and I have been here ever since. I have been incredibly fortunate to be part of the teaching faculty since that time. I took over as medical director of experiential learning through our Center for Medical Education and Innovation in 2011 and subsequently became the program director for our preliminary medicine and transitional program in 2015. After 11 years in this position, I took over as our internal medicine program director in July of 2026. I am both simultaneously humbled and thrilled at this opportunity and next phase in my career.

Outside of work, I relish spending time with my wife and kids, although they’re not really kids anymore (our boys are 23, 18 and 16). When our boys don’t have anything else going on (an increasingly rare event), we make a point of all having dinner together and enjoy playing board games and cards. I am an avid carnivore, continuing to perfect the art of both grilling and smoking meats, which obligates me to try to go to the gym almost every day. The fall is my favorite time of year as I love watching both college and professional football, but I am a fan of all sports throughout the year. Finally, we enjoy exploring new culinary and craft cocktail experiences throughout an ever-growing Columbus.

Dr. D'Angelo was born and raised in Columbus. She continued her studies at John Carroll University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a minor in Biology in 1993. She not only exceled in the classroom, but on the athletic field as well, as she was a two-sport athlete competing in both volleyball and track during her undergraduate years. She then continued her medical school training at The Ohio State University where she received her M.D., graduating in 1997. She completed her journey at Riverside Methodist Hospital finishing her resident training in OB-GYN in 2001. Dr. D'Angelo started her career as a partner at Associates in Central Ohio OB-GYN where she provided exemplary patient care as an attending physician at both St. Ann’s and Riverside Methodist Hospitals. In July 2017, she assumed the full-time role of Associate Program Director for the OB-GYN program at Riverside Methodist Hospital, where she continues to shape the future of healthcare through her dedication to teaching and mentorship. Most recently she has been named the Program Director for the Preliminary Medicine and Transitional Year Program at Riverside. As an educator, Dr. D’Angelo has inspired countless students and residents through her dynamic teaching style and unwavering commitment to excellence. She currently holds teaching positions at academic institutions such as The Ohio State University College of Medicine, University of Toledo, Northeast Ohio Medical University and Ohio University. In addition to her educational endeavors, she has done much work to support the creation and opening of the new OhioHealth Women's Center at Riverside. Dr. D'Angelo is also a dedicated member of her community. For nearly twenty years, she has devoted her time to St. Paul Parish and School, serving as an assistant and head coach for multiple volleyball, basketball and track & field teams. She has also held the roles of Athletic Director and President of St. Paul Parish Athletics. Perhaps, however, the most meaningful thing to Dr. D'Angelo is the family she and her husband, Tim, have nurtured. They have five children, ranging in ages from 16 to 25. They are her heart and soul and her love for them is endless.

I was born in Sacramento, CA, the son of Indian immigrants. I grew up in Cincinnati, OH before attending The Ohio State University as a first generation college student. There, I completed a BS in Computer & Information Science and worked for 18 months as a computer programmer. I decided to enroll in medical school and started my journey at St. Christopher’s Iba Mar Diop College of Medicine in Luton, United Kingdom. After 2 years there, I transferred and completed my degree by graduating with honors from Ross University School of Medicine as a first generation medical school graduate. I completed my Internal Medicine residency & chief residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. After graduation I remained on staff as an academic hospitalist for ~8 years, serving as the director of the medical procedure service/POCUS curriculum amongst other educational roles in UME & GME. In the winter of 2019, after 12 years in my adopted home of Chicago, my family and I relocated to Columbus, OH. Since then, I have served as Associate Program Director for IM at Riverside, overseeing Inpatient Medicine, directing the POCUS & ACE curricula and continuing to work as an academic hospitalist. I also serve as the OhioHealth system Diversity & Inclusion Champion for the IM program, alongside being the medical student director for the M4 sub-internship. Outside of Riverside, I am heavily involved with the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) and Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM). My specific areas of interest in medicine include JEDI (justice, diversity, equity and inclusion), Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), bedside procedures, artificial intelligence, adult learning theory, clinical reasoning and global health. I have been married since 2007 to the love of my life and have two amazing daughters, who are 12 & 13 years old. Through observing my parents’ healthcare, I saw firsthand the import role a primary care physician can play in keeping people healthy through education and preventive medicine. After High School, I attended John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio where I majored in Biology and Chemistry. After graduating from college, I continued my undergraduate research at the
Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute and was hired as a Lab Manager in the Biomedical Engineering Department. During that year I interacted with some of the brightest individuals I had ever met and was encouraged to continue my pursuit of a career in medicine.

The following year I was accepted into the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and finished my clinical years near home at St. Joe’s Hospital in Warren, Ohio. It was here that I fell in love with Internal Medicine as I watched three veteran Osteopathic Internists literally run the entire hospital. I should mention that I drug my wonderful wife through all of this, and we were fortunate enough to land our next stop in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

I started my Internal Medicine residency program here at Riverside Methodist Hospital and finished my training as the Chief Medical Resident. After my chief year, I remained with the program as both an academic hospitalist and outpatient Internal Medicine physician. I have since transitioned to my main interest in medicine and oversee the operations of our program’s outpatient Internal Medicine office at Riverside Community Medicine and continue practicing independently as a Primary Care Physician.

My wife and I have two fun-loving and amazing little boys, both born at Riverside, that are literally my entire life. I am a physician by training, but being their father is my true passion. In my spare time, my wife and I enjoy competing against each other through our iFIT interactive Fitness and Workout APP and exposing our sons to as many life experiences as possible. I was born and raised in Zanesville, Ohio--made famous for the release of tons of exotic animals in 2011 which earned its short cameo on Tiger King. Following high school, I enrolled in the BS/MD program at Northeast Ohio Medical University. I
obtained a BS in biological sciences from Youngstown State University prior to transitioning to medical school at NEOMED where I also met my husband Chris. Following medical school, I completed my internal medicine residency followed by a PGY4 chief resident year at the University of Kentucky. For a brief period, I was a cardiology fellow at The Ohio State University before realizing my passion resided in general internal medicine primary care. After leaving fellowship, I was faculty in general internal medicine at Ohio State precepting in their residency clinic, attending on their inpatient wards services and seeing patients in my own private practice clinic. I joined the Riverside Methodist internal medicine residency as an assistant program director in the spring of 2021. I practice primary care at the residency clinic, while also serving as Medical Director of Quality and Patient Safety for OhioHealth Physician Group Primary Care. I am passionate about lifestyle medicine, behavioral change counseling and preventative care. For me, the most rewarding part of my job is watching a resident transform in their abilities and confidence over their 3 years of residency training.

Both outside and inside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Chris, who is also an associate program director within the residency. Together we raise four spirited young children (2 boys, 2 girls) and two messy, (but no less awesome) beagle/jack russell terriers. During the fall, we spend many of our weekends indulging in my husband’s love of Cincinnati Bearcat football as season ticketholders (Go Cats!). I love traveling, running, baking (cakes preferably) a good book, vegetable gardening, house plants and will never say no to an iced coffee.

My interest in medicine started in high school but grew while working as a scribe for a primary care physician in Youngstown.

Shortly after finishing my graduate degree (and meeting my now wife), I started medical school at Ross University School of Medicine. Starting on the Caribbean Island of Dominica, my time on the island was cut short by a category 5 hurricane (Hurricane Maria), forcing myself and my classmates to have to wait for a week to be evacuated from the island. To keep our class on track for match, the semester resumed on an old Italian ferry that was kept off the coast of St. Kitts! I was thankful to start clinical rotations and be in the United States again, I moved to Chicago for my third-year rotations. Between my time as a scribe in primary care and my internal medicine core hospitalist rotation, I knew I wanted to become an internist. I did my Internal Medicine training right here at Riverside Methodist Hospital, where my interests in medical education, point of care ultrasound, and hospital medicine grew. I was lucky enough to become a father halfway through residency and then to be able to stay on as faculty here at Riverside after graduation. Now as an assistant program director, I am an academic hospitalist for our Clinical Medicine team while also being involved with board review, our sim and ultrasound curriculum, grand rounds preparation, and medical student experiences.

When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, my nearly 4-year-old daughter, and dog while exploring everything that Columbus has to offer. I am always looking to find the best pizza or coffee in the area. My favorite time of year is the fall, as I am excited for being able to meet and interact with our future trainees, but also for the leaves changing color, Halloween, and to root for the most important teams: my fantasy football teams.

joining as an assistant program director here at Riverside in 2024. My interests in medicine include use of AI in medicine, the integration of gamification in medical education, &
outpatient POCUS (learning something new - stay tuned!).

Outside of medicine you can find me taking candid photos of my dashing husband & two adorable sons eating ice
cream at Jeni’s or picking vegetables in our garden. We also enjoy experimenting with food using molecular gastronomy techniques. I enjoy traveling and am trying to visit all 63
national parks (27/63 completed thus far!). My husband and I also enjoy odd projects and even bought a school bus during residency off Facebook marketplace that we converted

I was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. Even though I was two year’s younger, I do feel like Lebron and I were neck
and neck for the title of, “Just a kid from Akron.” He edged me out just barely. I am one of three boys in my family
and happen to be in the middle. I followed my older brother to the University of Cincinnati, where I walked onto the
women’s basketball team as a practice player. I feel confident that my life would look much different if NIL had
existed at that time. My time on that team was short lived as my ego was bruised more than my body. This is when I
changed my focus and became dedicated to becoming a physician.

I attended NEOUCOM in the height of a name change and graduated from Northeast Ohio Medical University in
2015. There, I met my wife. She has always challenged me to be the best version of myself, not only with my
actions, but with my thoughts and emotions. My best friend for life has been by my side in this career for all but one
year while she was in fellowship. We couple's matched into Internal Medicine at the University of Kentucky in 2015.
After 3 years of residency my wife stayed on as chief resident, and I became faculty for 1 year as an academic
hospitalist. Once my wife matched into cardiology fellowship at AN Ohio State University, I joined OhioHealth and Riverside Community Medicine in a part-time role. We welcomed our first child in 2019 and in 2020 I took a fulltime
roll as an Assistant Program Director. My wife joined us here shortly after as we saw the potential of being a part of
this program together. My number 1 professional goal is to make this the premiere hybrid Internal Medicine
Residency program in the US. Be assured, we can do it. My time inside of the program is spent advancing our
residents' career development by improving their understanding of what they can do with an internal medicine career, best ways to obtain a job and how to advocate for self once out of residency. I lead our colon cancer Quality Improvement project, which has won national awards for it's work for improving colon cancer screening rates and really enjoy mentoring residents within the Wellness Committee that we have here at Riverside. I also have been our beloved Blue Jacket's team physician for the past 8 seasons.

My personal life continues to expand as we now have 4 beautiful children, Benjamin 6, Rory 3, and Cameron 18
months and .......... They mean everything to me. I'm a big Beatles fan and have a solid musical collection which is a large part of my life. My free time is dedicated to making the PGA tour. My 8.2 handicap does not open a lot of doors, so I’vegot to keep kicking them in. I love Bearcat football. We have been season ticket holders for 4 years and I do drag my family to the games with me as often as I can. Go CATS!

Julie Coffman, MD, is a Southern girl at heart—which means the accent has stuck around and “y’all” remains an entirely acceptable part of her professional vocabulary. Outside of medicine, she loves spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and exploring the National Parks whenever she gets the chance.

She married her college sweetheart more than 20 years ago, and together they are raising three teenagers—a season of life that keeps their calendar full and ensures there is rarely a dull moment.

Dr. Coffman’s connection to Riverside began as a medical student, when she quickly fell in love with the people, culture, and commitment to education. She chose Riverside for her Internal Medicine residency, left briefly for fellowship training, and then returned to the place she knew she wanted to put down roots and build her career.

Teaching has remained one of the most rewarding parts of her work. She loves the curiosity of learners and the way their questions continually challenge her to think more deeply, stay current, and occasionally admit, “That’s a great question—let’s look it up.”

That approach is also at the heart of her passion for evidence-based medicine (EBM). Interestingly, EBM was once an area she considered a weakness during residency—until Dr. Tom Boes challenged her to develop those skills. That challenge ultimately became a professional passion. Today, she particularly enjoys helping learners develop practical ways to find, evaluate, and apply evidence at the point of care.

Her professional interests also include pain and symptom management, shared medical decision-making, and navigating crucial conversations with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

The high acuity of care, resident camaraderie, and passionate faculty were obvious to me as a rotating student. I could not have been happier on match day when I found out I had matched to RMH! I was thrilled to be selected as a chief resident at the end of my 3 years in training, and was honored to return after fellowship as an endocrinologist, and later on, as medical education faculty. He also serves as Associate Medical Director for the OhioHealth Clinically Integrated Network.

A lifelong central Ohioan, Dr. Anderson grew up in Westerville, where he still lives today. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Toledo, initially on the path toward a career in pharmacy. Four years in, he made the decision to redirect toward medicine, a choice that ultimately gave him a strong foundation in pharmacology and a lasting interest in how medications are used in clinical care. He went on to earn his medical degree from the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio.

Dr. Anderson completed his internal medicine residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital and joined the faculty upon graduation. Staying at OhioHealth was an easy decision as he credits the culture of the organization and the residency program, as the reason he chose to build his career here. His clinical practice is now entirely inpatient, and in addition to his teaching role he works as a contingent hospitalist with the Hospital Medicine Service.

Beyond scholarly activity, his professional interests include population health, an area he engages with directly through his work with the Clinically Integrated Network, as well as quality improvement and financial education for residents, a topic he believes is too often overlooked in medical training.

Outside the hospital, he is kept busy by his three children, two sons and a daughter, all of whom love sports and staying active. The family prioritizes time together, whether that means traveling or simply collecting new experiences close to home. They also share their house with Peanut, the family's much-loved senior cat.

Raised in Northeast Ohio, my educational journey took me to several communities across the state and provided exposure to a wide range of healthcare environments. Early in my training, I planned to pursue a career in imaging cardiology. However, after meeting my wife, Neethu, in 2015, my professional interests evolved and ultimately led me to hospital medicine, where I found a passion for clinical care, teaching, and mentoring trainees.

After completing residency in 2018, I joined Allegheny Health System as a hospitalist, where I practiced for one year while my wife completed her residency training. In 2019, we relocated to Columbus, and I joined MedOne Healthcare Partners. Over the years, I have developed a strong interest in graduate medical education and helping residents navigate the transition from training to independent practice, something I struggled with initially.

Dr. Gable is the System Medical Director for Simulation with OhioHealth in Columbus, Ohio. In that position he is responsible for the continuing education and professional development of OhioHealth’s 38,000 physicians, nurses, and associates across 3 simulation centers that support OhioHealth’s 17 hospitals and more than 200 caresites. Dr. Gable was the first person in the state of Ohio to graduate from a medical simulation fellowship. He holds faculty positions at The Ohio State University, Ohio University Heritage College of Medicine, Northeast Ohio Medical University, and the University of Toledo College of Medicine. Dr. Gable has co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications. He works clinically for Mid-Ohio Emergency Services (MOES) as an emergency physician. His interests are in using simulation for resident education, pre-hospital and disaster training, and quality improvement.
